A note from our Chair of Judges, Simon Wright
Under these circumstances if there are fewer new products launched this year it will not be a total surprise. However, as the industry recovers its vigour we will once again be highlighting the ability of the food and drink industry to innovate so as to meet the needs of its customers.

The Quality Food Awards in 2020 and beyond
In 2019 we celebrated forty years of the Quality Food Awards and as we look ahead to the next forty years, we are making some key changes to ensure the awards stay relevant and aligned with the fast-moving world of food and drink retailing and manufacturing.
The first change is our new logo. The Q remains at the heart of the design, reflecting the emphasis on Quality in everything we do.
We have decided it is the right time to retire our Quality Drinks Awards in order to focus on our core market of food and non-alcoholic drinks. Thank you to everyone who has supported the Quality Drink Awards over years.
This year we are also moving the convenience sector into the mainstream programme as we combine the Local Shop Quality Food Awards with the main Quality Food Awards. This change reflects the increasing numbers of brands and own label products that are available in convenience stores. A symbol group or convenience brand entering the awards will now receive the industry-renowned Quality Food Awards logo to use on pack and in-store.
We are expanding our Foodservice categories to cover more specialised areas. Hear what our Foodservice Chairman Stephen Minall of Moving Food has to say here and check out our new categories. We have also grown our Vegan and Food To Go categories to enable us to highlight and reward the exciting innovation driving these product sectors.
Will we continue to recognise those retailers who have achieved outstanding results in specific areas of grocery such as meat and vegan with our Retailer of the Year Awards. More information on these champion categories and how they are awarded can be found here.
Finally, we have taken a look at our Christmas Awards and we are changing how and when these are announced. The Christmas trading period highlights innovation and creativity in food development; it is also a vital trading period for all retailers and their suppliers. We know how much winning a Christmas Q means, and understand that if you win one you want to tell the world just as soon as you can. To facilitate this, we will be announcing the Christmas Winners online in September. Christmas Retailer of the Year will also be announced in September with the trophy being presented at our Quality Food Awards Presentation Dinner on November 13 at The Brewery. By making this change there will be more time to market winning products and to get the all-important Q logos printed on pack and in-store.
On behalf of myself and all the team, I wish you the best of luck with your entries.
Beckie Dart, Director, Quality Food Awards.

The Small Producer Award is open to all companies with fewer than 10 staff and annual sales under £2 million. Each entry will be judged alongside all other products in the main Quality Food Awards and will benefit from a reduced entry fee and detailed feedback from industry experts. Small producers will also have the potential opportunity to pitch to Co-op buyers directly in a dragons den style presentation.
A Quality Food Award is a powerful endorsement of your product. Winning an award doesn't stop after you've been presented your trophy. It is a high-powered marketing tool that you can use to promote your product line and increase your sales. A Quality Food Awards win gives you the opportunity to use the highly respected logo, which regularly features in TV and print marketing campaigns for major multiples.
