London-based Woods Foodservice has become the 10th member of Caterforce, strengthening the buying group's reach and offering. The wholesaler has also entered the fresh meat category through a new partnership with HG Walter and secured additional supplier deals ahead of Christmas, supporting Caterforce’s expanding network across the UK.

London-based wholesaler Woods Foodservice, known for supplying premium products to high-end hospitality venues across the UK, has become the 10th member of Caterforce. This addition significantly reinforces Caterforce’s standing as one of the largest independent foodservice buying groups in the country. Caterforce’s network now comprises ten family-run businesses collectively serving more than 46,000 customers throughout England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland.

With a combined turnover of around £870 million, Caterforce’s collective buying power empowers its members to source high-quality products at competitive prices. Woods Foodservice’s inclusion helps consolidate the group’s reach and offering, enhancing service for independent hospitality operators seeking premium goods.

Woods Foodservice itself has been actively expanding its product portfolio recently. Notably, it has entered the fresh meat category for the first time through an exclusive partnership with premium butcher HG Walter. This collaboration delivers an assortment of carefully curated British meat products, such as Cumberland sausages, streaky bacon, and premium burgers, responding to heightened demand for quality fresh meat among its discerning customers. These products are available via Woods Foodservice’s online platform, underscoring the wholesaler’s commitment to innovation and meeting evolving market needs.

In addition to this venture into fresh meat, Woods Foodservice has bolstered its supply base by securing eight new supplier agreements ahead of the Christmas period, further diversifying its range to cater to festive demand and beyond. This strategic growth aligns well with Caterforce’s broader efforts to enhance supply chain partnerships; since the start of 2025, Caterforce has onboarded 18 new suppliers to its network. According to the group’s head of buying, Peter Saunders, this expansion reflects Caterforce’s dedication to building strong supplier relationships and offering its members a wider product selection.

Caterforce’s membership includes other leading independent wholesalers such as Castell Howell, Dunsters Farm, Hunt’s Food Group, JB Foods, Lynas, Philip Dennis, Pilgrim Foodservice, and Q Catering. This geographical and product diversity enables Caterforce to serve a broad customer base across the UK, reinforcing the group’s position as a pivotal player in the independent foodservice sector.

Woods Foodservice’s integration into Caterforce marks a key milestone not only for the wholesaler but also for the buying group as a whole, signalling continued growth and collaboration in the competitive UK foodservice landscape.
