The Asda Foundation has granted over £3.2 million to more than 2,600 local community organisations in 2024, backing initiatives from community centre refurbishments to food poverty relief, as detailed in its latest Impact Report.

Asda Foundation has announced that it awarded a total of £3.2 million in grants to local community groups as part of its 2024 programme. The details are outlined in the Asda Foundation Impact Report, which reveals that more than 2,600 grants were granted across a broad spectrum of community organisations during the reporting period.

The foundation’s support covered a variety of initiatives, including funding to prevent the closure of community centres at risk, refurbishing outdoor spaces, and bolstering services aiming to combat isolation and loneliness. These efforts reflect the foundation's commitment to enhancing community well-being at the grassroots level.

Since its inception 36 years ago, the Asda Foundation has awarded over £57 million in funding to community groups across the UK. Building on this long-standing commitment, the foundation is set to launch a Local Community Spaces Fund next month, which will offer up to £1.25 million to support further community projects.

The impact report also emphasised food poverty as a significant area of focus in Asda's community efforts. Ahead of the winter months last year, the foundation awarded £265,000 to 271 food distributors throughout the UK, aiming to provide crucial support during a challenging period for many families.

Karl Doyle, chair of the Asda Foundation charity, spoke about the significance of these achievements, saying, “It’s days like today that really helps us to showcase the important work we do to help many grassroots groups and charities across the UK. Thank you to the grassroots groups and charities who work tirelessly to make a positive difference for the people and communities who need it most. We’re proud of everything we’ve achieved together in 2024 and are looking forward to continuing our support for communities across the UK.”
