Hello QFA Entrants and Judges

Every year we sit down to think about how we can make the Quality Food Awards even better.

This year we have decided to change the way we classify the Award results. For the last 4 years we have been classifying the best products as Winner, Highly Commended and Commended. However our research indicates that consumers are happier with the terms Gold, Silver and Bronze so for the 2023 Awards we are moving to this new system. We anticipate that increased consumer understanding of Gold, Silver and Bronze will stimulate even greater use of the QFA logo and better consumer recognition.

What are the implications for judges? Absolutely none as the judging process itself is unchanged – same degree of rigour, same transparency, same exacting high standards. We already use Gold, Silver and Bronze for the Irish Quality Food Awards with great success. The product categories, judging criteria, voting process and the Product of the Year will remain unchanged.
