Sofia May, an eight-year-old from Southampton, steps into the unique role to taste and review Easter products, promising to enhance Aldi's chocolate offerings.

Aldi has made a delightful announcement as they prepare for Easter 2026, appointing an eight-year-old girl, Sofia May, from Southampton, to the newly created role of Chief Easter Egg Tasting Officer. This unique position aims to enhance the supermarket's Easter offering through expert feedback from a young connoisseur.

The search for the ideal candidate involved a competitive selection process, and Sofia stood out among many applicants with her self-professed "extreme love" for chocolate. In a video submission made by her parents, she expressed her affection for Aldi's Dairyfine Milk Chocolate Buttons, presenting a compelling case to the judges. Sofia confidently stated that she would be a perfect fit for the role, saying, "I love Aldi and I'm a chocoholic."

With her new position, Sofia will be tasked with testing various Easter products, including the Dairyfine Bubble Tea, priced at £7.99 for 215g, and the Dairyfine Curious Inventions Egg, which retails at £2.99 for 180g. The feedback she provides will play a significant role in shaping next year’s Easter offerings at Aldi, ensuring that her chocolate expertise informs the supermarket's decisions.

Sofia expressed her excitement about the role, stating, "I can’t wait to taste these Easter eggs and be Aldi’s new Chief Easter Egg Tasting Officer as chocolate is my favourite thing." She further elaborated on her surprise at winning the role, sharing, “Me and my mummy and daddy were really surprised when I won, and they are very proud of me."

Her mother, Gemma May, echoed her daughter's sentiments, describing the opportunity as a "dream come true." In her remarks to the Birmingham Mail, she expressed enthusiasm about seeing Sofia's passion for chocolate recognised by a major corporation: "Sofia’s always had a love for chocolate, so seeing her get the chance to share her passion with Aldi is beyond exciting."

Aldi has also officially welcomed Sofia to their team, highlighting her enthusiasm for chocolate as a key factor in their selection. The supermarket shared their excitement, stating, "We’re so excited to welcome Sofia as our new Chief Easter Egg Tasting Officer. Sofia’s passion for chocolate really stood out and her reviews will not only provide useful feedback but will also help guide our decisions to make next year’s range even more special."

With Easter approaching and Sofia's reviews on the horizon, anticipation grows around the products that will be available on Aldi's shelves for next year's celebrations.
