UK Supermarkets ramp up beer loyalty discounts ahead of summer parties

Beer Alcohol Trends

UK supermarkets are offering significant discounts on beer through loyalty card schemes, encouraging bulk purchases for summer gatherings and football watch parties, with premium and alcohol-free options also included in current promotions.

As summer gatherings and football watch parties fill fridges across the UK, supermarkets are leaning hard on beer promotions to tempt shoppers into bulk buys. The best discounts are often tied to loyalty schemes, with Sainsbury’s Nectar and Tesco Clubcard users able to unlock some of the sharpest cuts on familiar brands, according to the retailers’ current offers.

At Sainsbury’s, Nectar card holders can currently pick up a 15-pack of Heineken for £12 instead of £16, while an 18-pack of Peroni Nastro Azzurro is listed at £15, down from £26.75. The same chain is also selling Birra Moretti in 12-packs for £12, reduced from £17.75. Sainsbury’s says Nectar Prices are shown in-store and online, and customers must scan or link their card to receive the discount.

Tesco is also running Clubcard Prices across a wide range of beers, with some offers extending into mid-August. Its beer list includes Madri Excepcional at £12 for 12 bottles, Peroni Nastro Azzurro at £10 for 10 cans, and Birra Moretti at £12 for 12 bottles, each marked down from higher standard prices. Tesco’s current promotions also include alcohol-free options such as Budweiser 0.0%, reflecting the broader rise in demand for low- and no-alcohol drinks.

Elsewhere, Waitrose is offering Asahi Super Dry in 12-packs for £14, down from £20, while Ocado has cut Beavertown Gamma Ray APA to £13 for a 10-pack from £16.70. Tesco is also discounting other mainstream names, including Guinness Draught and Corona, suggesting that the best value this week is less about a single supermarket and more about comparing loyalty pricing, pack size and whether shoppers want premium lagers or lighter alcohol-free alternatives.
