Pukka’s frozen pies and sausage rolls get a bright new look to boost shelf navigation and sales
Pukka has unveiled a revamped frozen range featuring brighter packaging, clearer flavour cues, and new product lines aimed at enhancing shopper experience and driving growth in a competitive convenience sector.
Pukka is overhauling its frozen pies and sausage rolls with brighter packaging and sharper on-pack cues in a bid to make the category easier to navigate and quicker to shop. The new look keeps the brand’s familiar orange colouring but adds clearer flavour coding and prominent cooking guidance, including references to air frying, oven cooking and, on some lines, microwave times. According to Pukka, the aim is to help shoppers spot favourites more easily in freezer cabinets while also reducing uncertainty at the point of purchase.
The relaunch covers the core frozen offer and adds fresh products as the company looks to extend usage occasions. Among the new lines are a twin pack Steak pie, drawn from the success of its chilled All Steak slice, and an eight-pack of smaller sausage rolls aimed at snacking and lunch occasions at home. Pukka has also expanded its microwavable range, with the company highlighting four-minute cooking and its use of a patented susceptor to help maintain pastry texture.
The move comes as Pukka continues to lean on packaging as a growth tool across more than one part of the business. The brand recently refreshed its chilled slices range as well, introducing new packaging and a Cheese & Pickle Slice to inject more energy into the fixture and improve shelf navigation. That broader push suggests Pukka is trying to create a more coherent look across chilled and frozen lines while using new products to attract both loyal shoppers and incremental buyers.
The frozen revamp lands in a market where convenience and value remain central, but perceptions of frozen food still need work. Pukka says frozen shoppers are price conscious, but also want flexibility and speed, and the company argues that clearer packaging helps retailers make the aisle work harder. The timing is notable too: Pukka says its frozen pies are growing in value and volume, even as the wider category faces pressure, and the company has recently reported stronger sales and profits supported by new products, distribution gains and range expansion.
