The premium ready-to-drink cocktail brand Moth has raised £11m, signalling a rapid growth phase in both Britain and the United States, with ambitions to penetrate new retail channels and markets.

Moth has secured an £11m funding round as the premium ready-to-drink cocktail brand steps up its ambitions in Britain and the United States. The latest injection, which follows a £4.6m raise last year, was led by Puma Growth Partners and backed by existing investors Beringea, Guinness Ventures and Rianta Capital, according to the company and investors.

The business, founded by Rob Wallis and Sam Hunt, has built a strong position in UK grocery and is now focusing on convenience stores as it looks to widen its reach. It is also pushing harder in the US, where it says sales are outstripping the wider RTD cocktail category in California, Florida and Illinois through chains including Whole Foods Market, Target, Trader Joe’s and Binny’s.

Moth said turnover rose 67% to £20.9m in its latest financial year, helped by distribution across more than 40,000 UK stores. That footprint now includes Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Asda, Morrisons, Co-op and Whole Foods Market. Earlier investor materials from Beringea described the brand as the UK’s fastest-growing premium RTD cocktail business, with a 41% share of the premium off-trade market and a compound annual growth rate of 178% over two years.

Co-founder Hunt said the brand was now selling one can every four seconds, while Puma Growth Partners said it saw clear evidence of repeat purchase and market share gains. Beringea, which backed an earlier £4.6m round in September 2024, said Moth had the right combination of product and ambition to scale internationally. Guinness Ventures said the team had shown discipline in expanding only where growth had been proven.

Moth’s wider route to market has included British Airways short-haul flights, Pret outlets in UK airports and restaurant chains such as Honest Burger, Franco Manca and YO! Sushi. Guinness Ventures also said the business had expanded into the US, initially through Florida and Massachusetts, with products sold via retailers including Total Wine, Whole Foods Market and Publix Liquor.
