Product launch Ready-to-Drink

Mezcal Reina introduces two natural canned cocktails, a Paloma and a Mezcalita, as part of its UK market expansion, capitalising on the booming ready-to-drink category and rising global mezcal popularity.

Mezcal Reina has expanded beyond bottled spirits with the launch of two canned cocktails, a Paloma and a Mezcalita, as the women-founded brand seeks to ride the growing momentum in ready-to-drink drinks. The new serves are built around its Espadín mezcal, the expression that first appeared in February and now sits at the centre of the company’s latest move into the UK market.

According to the brand, the Paloma comes in at 8.5% ABV and combines smoky mezcal with pink grapefruit, lime and carbonation. The Mezcalita is slightly stronger at 10% ABV and leans into smoke, lime and chinotto-derived orange bitterness. Mezcal Reina says both drinks are made without preservatives or sweeteners and rely only on natural flavourings, with cans priced at £4.99 each or £20 for a four-pack.

The launch arrives as the RTD category continues to outperform much of the wider alcohol market. The Wine and Spirit Trade Association has said UK off-trade RTD sales have passed £700m, while IWSR has described the segment as one of the few areas of expected growth in 2026. Mezcal Reina has also pointed to IWSR data showing mezcal among the fastest-growing spirits categories globally, with projected annual growth of 10% through to 2027.

Co-founder and chief commercial officer Monica Torroella said the canned drinks took nearly two years to develop, in part because the company wanted partners aligned with its standards and because maintaining stability in a product built on fresh citrus and real mezcal required careful formulation. Chief executive and co-founder Susana Franyutti said the brand sees the RTDs as an accessible way to introduce drinkers to mezcal without diluting quality, adding that the UK’s cocktail culture has helped inspire the range. Founded in 2017, Mezcal Reina also produces ancestral-method Tobalá, Tobasiche and Arroqueño expressions, alongside its Espadín base.
