Reading-based Double-Barrelled Brewery has raised £200,000 to invest in new equipment, increase production capacity, and enhance its sales and marketing efforts, supporting its expansion and job creation efforts.

Double-Barrelled Brewery is set for its next phase of growth after securing £200,000 in expansion finance, money that will go towards new equipment, higher production capacity and a broader push into sales and marketing. The Reading-based craft brewer said the backing should help it meet rising demand while also supporting new jobs as it builds on what has become an established local brand.

Founded in 2018 by Luci and Mike Clayton-Jones, the business began as a home-brewing venture before growing into a brewery and taproom in Tilehurst, according to its own website and Visit Reading. The company now makes pale ales, lagers, IPAs and seasonal releases, and sells through its taproom, online shop, wholesale customers and major UK retailers.

The brewery has also leaned into the experience economy, hosting events, tours and tastings as drinkers increasingly seek venues that combine beer with a social destination. Lancaster University has previously said the pair, both alumni, helped build the business from a small operation into one producing beer for customers across the country.

Mike Clayton-Jones said the funding would allow the brewery to invest in people, equipment and marketing to take the business forward, while Luci Clayton-Jones said the company had poured everything into Double-Barrelled over the past eight years. Rob Hillary, investment manager at The FSE Group, said the brewery was a strong example of a founder-led business with momentum, national retail listings and a clear plan for further growth.
