Coca-Cola is transforming its UK product range by introducing a variety of pack sizes, including a new 500ml 'Supercan' with football-themed promotions, aimed at appealing to both value-conscious and premium consumers in an increasingly cautious market.

Coca-Cola is reshaping the way its drinks are sold in UK supermarkets as it looks to cover a wider range of household budgets, with cheaper single-serve options, larger packs and premium lines all set to sit alongside one another on shelves. According to comments from chief executive John Murphy at a Deutsche Bank consumer conference, the company expects shoppers to notice a different mix of pack sizes in the months ahead as demand remains uneven.

The move reflects pressure on consumers who, Coca-Cola’s own research suggests, are still feeling stretched even at mid-level incomes. Murphy said the strategy is designed to keep products affordable for value-conscious shoppers while still leaving room for those willing to pay more for a larger or more indulgent format.

The shift comes after Coca-Cola Europacific Partners introduced a 500ml "Supercan" in Great Britain, first through Sainsbury’s before widening availability. The new format, which has also been used for Diet Coke, is intended to give the brand a more premium shelf presence than a standard 330ml can, while also tapping into demand for immediate-consumption drinks. Reports from the grocery trade said the cans have been rolled out across major supermarkets at around £1.95, with the format staying in the core range after the promotion ends.

Coca-Cola has also used the launch to lean into football marketing, tying the can to a Premier League-themed promotion with QR codes on-pack and prizes for shoppers. Industry reporting has linked the campaign to a broader push to grow sales among football fans, while earlier moves on larger bottle packs and price-marked packs suggest the company is trying to defend volume as well as value in a more cautious consumer market.
