Dublin-based Changing Times Brewery expands into the UK, aiming to increase sales by over 30% this year through new distribution partnerships and a growing range of craft beers.

Changing Times Brewery has made its first move beyond Ireland, entering the UK market in a step the Dublin-based business expects will lift sales by more than 30% this year. According to The Irish Times, the brewery is now forecasting turnover of about €1.6 million as it pushes into what it sees as a significant new channel for growth.

The Glasnevin brewery, founded by the families behind a number of well-known Dublin pubs and brewer Shane Long, has appointed UK wholesale drinks supplier Inn Express to handle distribution. Initial listings have already been secured in more than 50 outlets nationwide, including Windmill Taverns in London and Pillings in Manchester, with further pubs and bar groups expected to follow in London, Manchester, Birmingham and other major cities over the coming months.

The move comes less than two years after the business was established, and follows a period of steady expansion at home. The Irish Times reported last year that the brewery was expecting sales to double as venue numbers grew and its range widened. It has since added to its line-up, moving from two beers at launch to five draught offerings brewed at its Glasnevin site.

Those beers now include Daydreamer Lager, Clockwork Stout, After Hours Hazy Pale Ale, Bleedin’ Red Ale and Timeless Nitro Red Ale. Changing Times says its aim is to produce beers that publicans would be proud to serve in their own premises, a positioning that appears to be helping it win support from independent operators as well as larger groups. In a statement carried by Hospitality Ireland, director Willie Aherne said the response in Ireland had surpassed expectations and that the company was excited to introduce the brand to UK customers.
