A creamy cheese from the Grand Est region of France, with a bold flavour and distinctive aroma. During maturation the cheeses are placed in humid cellars to ripen for 2 weeks and regularly rubbed with brine. A red dye extracted from rocou seeds of is applied which gives the cheese a natural orange colour. Serve as part of a classic cheeseboard, to be cut in wedges like camembert. Can be baked, or for a super indulgent serving pour champagne into the ‘hollow’ on top (caused by the AOP rule of never turning the cheese over during maturation).
