Bidfood renews four-year partnership to advance allergy research and awareness
Bidfood has extended its strategic collaboration with The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation, pledging to support pioneering research and advocacy efforts aimed at reducing the impact of food allergies across the UK, with a focus on creating safer, more inclusive hospitality environments.
Bidfood has renewed its four-year strategic partnership with The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation, a UK charity dedicated to food allergy awareness and medical research. This renewed collaboration underscores Bidfood’s commitment to fostering safer and more inclusive food experiences across the hospitality and foodservice sectors. According to the company, the partnership aims to support the Foundation’s mission to #MakeAllergyHistory by advancing pioneering research and advocacy that benefit millions of people affected by food allergies in the UK.
The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation was established in 2019 by Tanya and Nadim Ednan-Laperouse following the tragic death of their daughter Natasha at the age of 15, caused by a severe allergic reaction to sesame. The charity is distinctive in its medical research focus, working to understand the factors behind the rising prevalence of allergic diseases and to develop strategies for prevention, treatment, and ultimately eradication. Tanya Ednan-Laperouse highlighted the pressing nature of the global allergy crisis, noting that food allergies now affect millions, including one in 13 schoolchildren, a statistic that emphasises the widespread impact on public health and wellbeing.
Andrew Selley, CEO of Bidcorp UK, expressed pride in continuing the partnership, recognising the Foundation's vital role in improving the lives of those living with food allergies. He asserted that Bidfood is motivated by a vision where everyone can feel safe and confident in their food choices, and views supporting the Foundation’s scientific and educational work as key to realising a future where food allergies no longer restrict lives.
This partnership renewal comes amid wider recognition of Bidfood’s efforts to support food safety and inclusivity within the industry. The company has received accolades such as the Best of British Business honour from The Independent, reflecting its broader commitment to socially responsible business practices, including initiatives aimed at raising awareness and improving industry standards for allergy-friendly food provision.
In supporting The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation, Bidfood is helping to drive forward innovation in allergy research and education, essential steps towards addressing the increasing burden of allergic disease. The partnership represents a critical link between industry leadership and charitable research, with the potential to effect significant change in how food allergies are managed and prevented in hospitality settings and beyond.
